dANIEL gROSS

Mr. Gross emphasizes health care, consumer protection, class action and business litigation in his practice. He is a member of the bar of the State of Washington and the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of the State of Washington. He received his law degree from New York University School of Law in 1994, and undergraduate degrees in Biology and Philosophy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

On graduating law school, Daniel received a Public Service Fellowship Fund grant to head a project housed in Seattle’s Defender Association, advocating for the rights of involuntarily committed patients. Daniel then worked as a staff attorney at the Defender Association, representing adult and juvenile clients in criminal, involuntary commitment, and dependency proceedings. Daniel worked as a staff attorney at the Washington Protection and Advocacy System (now Disability Rights Washington) in federal class actions and investigations of inadequate care for institutionalized individuals. He was also a member of the Public Interest Law Group PLLC, where he represented clients in matters including plaintiff-side employment litigation, Native American rights, appeals from administrative proceedings, and nonprofit formation and governance.

After taking time off to help raise his children, Daniel served as Senior Staff Attorney at Northwest Health Law Advocates, focusing on issues concerning access to health care, primarily for low income individuals and persons experiencing other systemic obstacles, such as disabilities and language barriers. Daniel has served as: a volunteer with the King County Bar Association Nonprofit Law Clinic; a volunteer attorney for Washington Attorneys Advising Community Organizations (now Wayfind); a member of the King County Bar Association’s Fair Campaign Committee; a member of the Washington State Health Benefit Exchange Board’s Health Equity Technical Advisory Committee, and number of committees and work groups of the King County and Pierce County Accountable Communities of Health. Daniel served as an officer and Board member of Northwest Health Law Advocates, Washington Citizen Action (now the Washington Community Action Network!) and REACH, a New York-based homeless services nonprofit.

Daniel has presented at state and national events on issues including state-based health care innovation planning, programs for individuals who are dually eligible for Medicaid and Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, Due Process in administrative proceedings, and representing clients with mental disabilities. Daniel was Co-editor of the Washington Law Practice Manual Chapter on Public Benefits Appeals.
